EcoJoia Makes 4th Kiva LoanThis quarter EcoJoia gave three loans through Kiva, thanks to proceeds from EcoJoia Fund products. Kiva is an organization that facilitates micro-lending to help those in need help themselves. This quarters loans were given to George, a farmer in Uganda; Juliana, a cook in Ghana; and Sara, a retailer in Peru. George is a 38 year old husband and father living in Fort Portal, Uganda. He grows and sells tea to sustain an income for his family. George’s loan will allow him to hire more land for growing tea and increase his profits. With an increase in profits, George hopes to one day build a permanent residence for his family. Juliana lives in Abura, Ghana with her husband and six dependents. She cooks and sells Waakye, a stew of beans and rice. Juliana’s loan will provide her with funds to purchase more ingredients and expand her business. The incoming profits will help her educate her dependents. Sara is a 51 year old craft enterprising woman in Lima, Peru. She has a husband and four children. Sara makes and sells her crafts from home and requested a loan to purchase crafting materials and continue her business.
